

Damien Aherne
A Brief Biographical Overview
Currently the Director of Bands for District 128 Palos Heights, Mr. Aherne holds an
Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from Wright College, a Bachelors Degree in Music
Education K-12, a Bachelors Degree in Classical Guitar Performance, and a Master
of Music Degree in Classical Guitar Performance from Roosevelt University. While
at Roosevelt, Mr. Aherne studied Music Education under the direction of Dr.
Charles Greoling, and Classical Guitar with world recognized guitarists Paul Henry,
Pamela Kimmel, Denis Azabagic and Sergio Assad. From 2003 to 2006 Mr.
Aherne was the Director of Classical Guitar at Curie High School in Chicago. While
at Curie, his students received high acclaim, achieving Division I Superior Ratings in
both City and State contests for Solo and Ensemble categories and were featured on
ABC Channel 7 news. Mr. Aherne has been teaching and performing as a
professional for over fifteen years, and his future goals include pursuing a Doctorate
Degree in Music Education. His private studio is located at The McCord Gallery in
Palos Park, and he is also an Adjunct Professor at Moraine Valley Community
College where he teaches music history.
